Wilton Manors Forms Focus Group to Help Decide How to Use New Properties Next to Hagen Park and Formulate Master Plan
WILTON MANORS, Fla., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Wilton Manors purchased two residential properties next to Hagen Park in September of last year. Now, officials are asking residents to help shape the Master Plan that will ultimately determine how this land, and any future acquired land adjacent to the park will be used.

The focus group met for the first time on May 20, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hagen Park Community Center, to discuss how the property will be developed and incorporated into the existing park facility.
The new space, which is located adjacent to Hagen Park, was the site of two multi-family structures that were demolished on April 9, 2014. The properties were purchased by the City for $390,000 with the goal of expanding Hagen Park.
"Hagen Park is a very active park with many recreational opportunities, however, the focus group will concentrate on assisting the City to be positioned in the future for park expansion to support additional programs, amenities and services," said Patrick Cann, Director of the Leisure Services Department.
The focus group will also be evaluating how Hagen Park can be used to further enhance the City's Arts & Entertainment District. "We'll be evaluating our current conditions and anticipating the future opportunities along with identifying what resources may be required," stated Cann.
Officials estimate it will take about six months to hold the focus group meetings, survey the community, meet with consultants and develop an overall plan.
