PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, announced today its support of the American Bar Association's (ABA) campaign aimed at decreasing substance use and improving the mental landscape in the legal profession. To highlight its support, WSGR has signed a pledge to adopt and prioritize the ABA's seven-point framework for building a better future when it comes to the health and well-being of legal professionals.
The ABA's Pledge campaign gives these issues attention by emphasizing awareness and stressing the importance of ongoing conversations about substance abuse and mental health conditions.
"In addition to being a proud co-signee of the Pledge, we are also proud of our ongoing commitment to provide a healthy and resilient work environment by having taken proactive steps in each of the areas identified in the pledge as part of WSGR's broader Resilience Curriculum," said Doug Clark, managing partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
The Pledge calls upon legal employers to recognize that substance use and mental health problems represent a significant challenge for the legal profession and acknowledge that more can and should be done to improve the health and well-being of legal professionals; and pledge to support the campaign and work to adopt and prioritize its seven-point framework for building a better future. The framework suggests ways to help legal employers combat substance abuse, address mental health issues, and decrease the stigma often associated with seeking help for either.
