Wilson Named Vice President and General Manager of KJRH-TV in Tulsa
CINCINNATI, May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- After more than two decades of successfully leading some of the country's best programming, marketing and promotion departments, Donna Wilson has been appointed vice president and general manager of KJRH, the Scripps-owned NBC affiliate in Tulsa, Okla.
Wilson's first day at the station will be June 16. She replaces Mike Vrabac, who assumed the leadership of sister station KSHB in Kansas City, Mo., in March.
"KJRH is a station with lots of momentum right now, which is why so many talented TV executives from coast to coast expressed an interest in the station's general manager position," said Brian Lawlor, senior vice president of the Scripps television division, who was in Tulsa today introducing Wilson to the KJRH employees. "Donna was a clear choice for us because of the breadth of her experience and the success she has enjoyed in every station function she's performed. She has a vision for making KJRH the most-dynamic media outlet in the Tulsa area, and I think the viewers and advertisers will see her make an impact very quickly."
Wilson, 44, has been with Scripps since 2002, when she became the director of creative services, programming and commercial production at WFTS in Tampa. While at the ABC affiliate, she has overseen marketing, news promotion, commercial production and programming, and developed strategic plans for marketing and branding of a station that had been an independent just a few years before she joined.
In 2005, she participated in the Scripps Leadership Institute, a program that provided special training for future leaders of the company.
Wilson previously was the director of sales marketing, creative services and programming at KXRM, the Fox affiliate in Colorado Spring, Colo. From 2000 to 2001, she was the corporate creative director for the 26 stations operated by Media General.
For three years prior to that, she was the director of creative services at WFTV, the ABC affiliate in Orlando that launched an independent sister station in the same market during her tenure.
Away from the office, she has served for two years on the board of Tampa's chapter of the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, a non-for profit group that offers support and education to families in the Bay Area that have or are at risk of having premature babies. In this capacity she was named a "Light In Shining Armor" for her work in the Tampa Community. She also volunteers at several area children's hospitals and participates in many cancer awareness fundraising walks/runs.
Wilson and her husband, Noid, have four-year-old twins, Riley and Kegan.
