Williamson named editor of Abilene Reporter-News
CINCINNATI, May 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Doug Williamson, a 35-year news industry veteran with broad expertise in local journalism, specialty publications and marketing, has been named editor of the Abilene (Texas) Reporter-News, effective May 21.

Williamson is a 1973 graduate of Baylor University with a degree in oral communication and journalism. He has served in a variety of positions at the Reporter-News since 1985, including managing editor, multimedia editor, business editor, marketing director and director of circulation sales and marketing.
Most recently, Williamson directed specialty publications at the Reporter-News, including Abilene Biz (a monthly business journal), several weekly newspapers, and the home and real estate sections. His other endeavors include writing "Ask Doug," a four-times weekly column in which he answers questions from Reporter-News readers.
Williamson's tenure at the Reporter-News has been marked by extensive civic involvement. He is a past president of the Expo Center of Taylor County and the Kiwanis Club of Abilene. He also served on the boards of the Better Business Bureau, the YMCA of Abilene, and Meals on Wheels.
He and his wife, Frances, have two grown sons.
