LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Wildfox announces the arrival of its Resort 14 - 15 eyewear range of vintage-inspired frames in both new and signature styles. Launched in 2012, Wildfox Sun frames feature handmade metal or Italian acetate with CR39 optical grade lenses offering UV A and B protection and five and seven barrel French Comotec hinges.
Drawing inspiration from style icons such as Edie Sedgwick, Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol, Resort Collection transcends summer trips from Manhattan to Paris in the sixties. Wildfox Sun Designer Benjamin Montoya describes, "There is a whole lot of 50s and 60s happening in this collection, which was such an influential period for eyewear design. It was around this time that you really started to see individual style expressed through eyewear alone." Montoya adds, "For Resort, we continued to use our high end Italian acetates that are not only hand-cut and custom, but possess a dimensional feel and incorporate deep, rich, kaleidoscopic colors." These acetates provide an even greater experience for the wearer, allowing a fuller, richer and contoured frame.
Our capsule collection for the season is our Factory Collection. New and signature acetate frame styles are offered in two-tone, mod-inspired Black/White and Navy/Tokyo Tortoise color ways. With Wildfox Sun's bold palate and color combinations, these striking, Avant-garde frames pay homage to the counter culture pop art movement of the 1960s.
Inspired by the starlet's namesake, the Monroe frame is a throwback embodiment of vintage Hollywood glamour. Stylistically an ideal hybrid of cat-eye and wayfarer, it's the fulcrum point where statement and versatility meet, as well as a favorite of Montoya, who says, "It will fit almost everyone who tries it." The Monroe comes in five iridescent laminate two-tone color combinations: black/white, pink quartz/coral red, amethyst/violet, shiny/matte black and shiny/matte Tokyo tortoise.
Inspired by the classic style worn by James Dean, the Smart Fox features a masculine shape with a feminine touch. These small, circular frames are offered in black, gray, Tokyo tortoise, purple ombre and mermaid, a pearlescent baby pink.
The 'Grande Dame' is an oversize update to the cat-eye Le Femme; it's grand, Parisian chic, and pairs well with champagne. Varying color options include two shades of tortoise – Tokyo and the new cream/brown based Antique Leaves – bold amethyst or coral, and classic black or navy.
Partly futuristic and partly vampy, the extreme cat-eye Ivy is the statement piece for the season with the right amount of attitude and femme fatale touch. Offered in purple ombre, gold glitter, black tortoise, Tokyo tortoise and a black deluxe version with a blue-coated flash mirror lens.
Two new metal frames in the collection are the round shaped Fleur and square Fontaine. Both are oversize and come in four finishes: gold, silver, black, and antique gold.
Signature frame styles such as the Classic Fox, Classic Fox 2, Le Femme, Kitten and Riviera have been updated with new color options. The heart-shaped favorite Lolita metal frame is now offered in red, purple, and teal. Mod and classic, the Winston features a thick, hand cut acetate frame in four new colors with a slight cat-eyed brow and a subtle, keyhole bridge. The Catfarer is a classic, cat-eye frame; our homage to the early 80's wayfarer – offered in six new colors and two additional deluxe versions with coated flash mirror lenses. Featuring Italian acetate contrasted by a metal-rimmed lens, the Clubfox comes in three new colors and a grey deluxe version with blue-coated flash mirror lenses.
The Resort sun collection is available now through March at the Wildfox Flagship store in Los Angeles and Wildfox.com. Prices range from $169-$199.
