Why has China adopted the CPC-led multi-party cooperation system?
BEIJING, Oct. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/
A news report by China.org.cn on China's political system:
Some Western countries have been doubting China's political system, especially the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s status as the only ruling party, despite the country's success in hosting the Beijing Olympic Games, developing into the world's second largest economy and becoming a leading innovator in mobile technology.
It is a ruling party's ability to make prudent and logical decisions that determines whether or not a country can develop well. China has adopted the CPC-led multi-party cooperation system, with the CPC holding power and the eight other democratic parties participating in state affairs and supervising the CPC. Different from two-party or multi-party competition systems of Western countries, the multi-party cooperation system has endowed China with the advantages of long-term planning and the integration of resources, thus enabling it to solve complex problems and further reforms.
Thanks to the CPC's adoption of the reform and opening-up policy in 1978 and the socialist market economy later on, China has seen remarkable progress over the past few decades that has taken almost a century for other countries to achieve. Furthermore, China's establishment of special economic zones, entry into the World Trade Organization, and leading role in the development of high-speed railways, as well as its achievements in environmental protection and reforming state-owned enterprises, all testify to the CPC's ability to make sound decisions and take action.
Meanwhile, the eight other political parties, whose members are patriotic personages from all walks of life, are highly representative of the general population. The CPC consults with them on major issues to reach the most comprehensive consensus and formulate the best plans for the country.
The reason the CPC were able to grow from a small group of several dozen members into China's ruling party is that it represents the interests of the overwhelming majority of the people. The CPC launched a project of land reform after its victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, giving land to the country's rural people and ending their marginalization from politics. Even today, the CPC still prioritizes the needs of China's rural population, demonstrated by its efforts to abolish agricultural taxation, develop rural areas and lift over 40 million people out of poverty by 2020.
Just like the Chinese saying that "only your feet know whether your shoes fit well". The leadership of the CPC is the choice of the Chinese people. The political development and national conditions of modern China called for a socialist political system with Chinese characteristics, and that is the multi-party cooperation system. This system has contributed to China's economic rise, the profound changes in its citizens' lives and the country's increasingly important role on the world stage. All of these achievements testify to the wisdom of the Chinese people's choice.
