Customers Can Meet Therapy Animals and Animal-Assisted Therapy Volunteers From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
DENVER, Dec. 14, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Saturday, Dec. 18, American Humane Association's Animal-Assisted Therapy Program will be the recipient of "5% Day" at the Washington Park Whole Foods Market®, located at 1111 S. Washington St. in Denver. Shoppers can enjoy meeting some of the organization's friendly therapy animals and wonderful volunteers while supporting the great work of the animal-assisted therapy teams with their purchases.

Five percent of net sales between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. will be donated to American Humane Association's Animal-Assisted Therapy Program as part of Whole Foods Market's community giving program that benefits local nonprofit and educational organizations.

In the past year alone, more than 200 highly trained volunteer handler-animal teams brought inspiration, encouragement and unconditional love to approximately 125,000 people at 50 facilities in the area, including Denver Health, Swedish Medical Center, and Denver Children's Home. Therapy animals in the program include dogs, cats, a miniature horse and a guinea pig.
