Who Really Makes It as an Entrepreneur?
Going from Idea to Execution in the New Era of Entrepreneurship
Marketing and Media Strategist Davia Temin to speak at Swarthmore College's Jonathan R. Lax Conference on Entrepreneurship
NEW YORK, March 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- "Almost everyone needs to be an entrepreneur these days – whether you own your own company, work at a start up, or are just trying to innovate within a larger organization," says Davia Temin,CEO of strategic marketing, reputation and crisis management consultancy Temin and Company.
Ms. Temin will moderate a panel discussion at The Jonathan R. Lax Conference on Entrepreneurship at Swarthmore College on Sunday, March 18th. The panel, "Who Really Makes It as an Entrepreneur: Can You?", will discuss the portfolio of skills required to launch and run a new venture.
"There is an entire mystique built up around being an entrepreneur. But there is shocking naivete and romanticism as well. The reality is far more challenging," she adds.
An expert on crisis and reputation, Ms. Temin will also lead a roundtable discussion, "Resilience – Surviving, Thriving Through the Tough Times," immediately following the panel, focusing on succeeding in challenging environments.
"After having left a large corporate job 14 years ago to start my own boutique management consultancy – which is still going strong – I realized that the qualities of survival one really needs as an entrepreneur are rarely spoken about, especially to college students.
"Who really makes a good entrepreneur? What are the qualities it takes to be successful, when over half of all new ventures fail? These are the topics we will be discussing with Swarthmore students, alumni, faculty and the larger community on Sunday at Swarthmore's Lax Conference on Entrepreneurship."
