WASHINGTON, Aug. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McBee Strategic Consulting (MSC), LLC, a leading lobbying and strategic communications firm, today announced that White House and Capitol Hill alum Robert Marcus will be joining the firm September 6 as Executive Vice President.
Marcus, who will work on both the lobbying and communications teams, most recently served as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, managing legislative strategies on behalf of President Barack Obama on a range of issues, including defense, national security, international relations, homeland security and oversight. He served as the President's primary liaison to the House of Representatives on national security and foreign affairs issues.
Representing the President on some of the critical issues of our time, Marcus will be charged with expanding and servicing McBee's roster of international and defense lobbying clients.
"Robert brings more than a decade of legislative and political experience in senior positions in the White House and the U.S. House of Representatives," said MSC Managing Director Rob Chamberlin. "He was a total fit for our collaborative model and the type of consultant that typifies us—smart, experienced, and connected."
At the White House, he was an integral part of the congressional lobbying campaigns that led to the finalization of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action ("The Iran Deal"), multiple National Defense Authorization (NDAA) and Intelligence Authorization Acts, and Title X "train and equip" authority for the Pentagon. He also worked to secure a large percentage of the Democratic votes in support of Trade Promotion Authority for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Working across the aisle, Marcus established strong bipartisan relationships with both Members of Congress and senior staff.
"I'm honored to join a firm that can aid clients with a seamless combination of lobbying, communications and regulatory services," said Marcus. "Even in today's challenging political environment, the combination of these assets, along with our talented bipartisan team, allows us to meet the most difficult challenges head on and achieve success."
Prior to his White House appointment, Robert served as a Senior Professional Staff Member with the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. In that capacity he counseled Chairman Howard Berman (D-CA), and later Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), on Middle East and North Africa policy. Previous to his tenure on the Committee, Marcus served as a Legislative Assistant to Rep. Jan Schakowsky, a member of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee.
