WASHINGTON, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher, Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller and Special Assistant to the President Gary Samore will join top policy experts and political analysts in addressing hundreds of students and young professionals for Global Zero's GZ|DC Convention. The event will take place at The George Washington University in Washington, DC from April 8-10, 2011.
The Convention will build on the progress and momentum of 2010, including ratification of the New START Treaty and the growth of the Global Zero movement to more than 400,000 people worldwide – and will take place on the anniversary of the 2010 signing of the START Treaty and President Obama's 2009 Prague speech calling for a world without nuclear weapons.
The young Global Zero leaders will participate in intensive trainings, strategize on building the Global Zero movement, engage with a group of eminent leaders, senior government officials, and other experts, attend cutting-edge campaign workshops and network with fellow activists in the movement.
GZ|DC 2011 will launch an unprecedented grassroots movement to achieve the vision of a world without nuclear weapons.
