White Cloud and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Name Real Comfort, Real Kids Video Contest Winners
Three Children's Hospitals to Receive $30,000 White Cloud Donation
BENTONVILLE, Ark., Sept. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- White Cloud®, a brand of bathroom tissue, facial tissue and paper towels, named Palmetto Health Children's Hospital one of three finalists to receive a $30,000 donation from its national Real Comfort, Real Kids video contest with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals®.
At a donation ceremony, White Cloud presented a $30,000 check to Palmetto Health Children's Hospital in recognition of their winning video. The event also served as a groundbreaking ceremony for the playground the hospital plans to build for its patients as described in its contest submission. Patients of Palmetto Health Children's Hospital as well as hospital and foundation leaders, led the celebration with donors and supporters.
"This incredible gift from White Cloud will help us create the safe outdoor play space we've been dreaming of," said Christy Fink, Child Life manager, Palmetto Health Children's Hospital. "Playing is a vital part of the healing process for our patients. With the new playground, even our sickest children can play, using specially designed equipment that will accommodate IV poles, wheelchairs and hospital beds. It's exciting to know our families can be with their children in a normal play environment."
In January, White Cloud launched the Real Comfort, Real Kids video contest asking CMN Hospitals to submit a one-minute video answering the question, "How would you bring more comfort to kids in your hospital?" Palmetto Health Children's Hospital's video enthusiastically answered the question with its desire to build a playground and received the highest number of votes on the White Cloud Facebook page. El Paso Children's Hospital in El Paso, Texas and Hurley Children's Hospital in Flint, Mich., were named the other two finalists in this year's contest.
"White Cloud strives to give families everyday comfort with its products and our partnership with CMN Hospitals is a natural extension of this," said Drew Lufkin, division VP of consumer sales for Kruger Products L.P. "This year we're doubling our donation to the Children's Hospitals that will elevate comfort among some of the children and families that need it most."
Across the U.S. and Canada, 170 CMN Hospitals provide life-saving treatment for more than 10 million kids per year. Now in its third year of partnership, White Cloud is donating a total of $140,000 to CMN Hospitals. This year's donation includes:
- $30,000 to each contest winner's hospital ($90,000)
- $50,000 to the national CMN Hospitals organization
"Programs such as White Cloud's Real Comfort, Real Kids contest involve children in a creative and meaningful way and directly impact the children and hospitals they're being treated at," said Shirley MacRae, director of Corporate Alliances at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
