COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanksgiving is around the corner and no celebration is complete without White Castle's famous Turkey Stuffing, a Craver favorite made with hot and tasty White Castle Sliders. Today, America's first fast-food hamburger chain re-released the famous recipe which can be made from sliders available in frozen sections at grocery and convenience stores all across the country or at a White Castle restaurant near you.
"At White Castle, we're thankful for our loyal Cravers everywhere, and that's why we want to help take your Thanksgiving celebration to a bold, new level," said Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle. "White Castle's Turkey Stuffing recipe puts a classic Craver touch on the popular traditional side dish. Using the Original Slider, cooked in your own home or in one of our restaurants, gives the stuffing a unique flavor that's sure to satisfy every guest and have them craving more."
Like many traditions for the fast-food chain, White Castle's Turkey Stuffing originated from the idea of an innovative team member. In 1991, a White Castle team member enhanced her grandmother's family stuffing recipe with a sack of Sliders. Today, Cravers across the country can visit their local grocer's frozen food section, or their local White Castle restaurant, to pick up Original Sliders and put their touch on this classic Crave recipe.
Recipe:
Prep Time 5-10 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes
- 10-12 White Castle Sliders (from the restaurant with the pickles removed or picked up from your local retailer)
- 1 ½ cups diced celery
- 1 ¼ teaspoons ground thyme
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground sage
- ¾ teaspoons coarse ground black pepper
- ¼ cup chicken broth or 1 cup for casserole version
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, tear the Sliders into pieces and add diced celery and seasonings.
- Add 1 cup chicken broth, toss well.
- Add ingredients to casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
- Or to stuff the ingredients into the cavity of the turkey, prepare ingredients as noted above, but reduce chicken broth to 1/4 cup, then cook as you normally would.
- Makes about 9 cups (enough for a 10-to-12-pound turkey).
Note: Allow 1 Slider for each pound of turkey, which will be the equivalent of ¾ cup of stuffing per pound.
