COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- White Castle, America's first fast-food hamburger chain, is celebrating World Egg Day on Friday, October 9 by offering one free egg on any Slider. World Egg Day, a global holiday launched by the International Egg Commission (IEC) in 1996, raises awareness of the benefits of egg consumption and helps provide one of nature's highest quality sources of protein to impoverished populations in countries across the world.
"We take pride in our ability to serve customers our delicious menu items made with fresh-cracked eggs, straight from the shell to the grill, not the freezer to the microwave," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle. "In honor of World Egg Day, we wanted to do our part and give back to our loyal Cravers by offering them the option to add an egg, free of charge, to any Slider."
Known for serving its breakfast menu items with fresh-cracked eggs, right off the griddle, White Castle partnered with the American Egg Board (AEB) and recently announced the launch of Anything, Anytime™ – a new initiative that gives legions of loyal Cravers the option to order anything on the menu, anytime their local White Castle is open. This includes the wide selection of breakfast items.
"White Castle joins America's egg farmers and the world in celebrating the Incredible Edible Egg — one of the highest quality proteins of any food available," said John Howeth, senior vice president, AEB. "World Egg Day celebrates an important global cause, and we're excited White Castle is taking part by offering a free egg on any Slider to its customers."
White Castle's breakfast menu includes items like French Toast Sticks, Hash brown Nibblers® and Oatmeal, along with its immensely popular Belgian Waffle lineup, including its Belgian Waffle Breakfast Sliders, the Chicken & Waffle Slider and the newest addition, the Sausage & Gravy Waffle Slider. Or Cravers with a sweet tooth can order the Strawberries & Cream Waffles, for a limited time only.
White Castle has served breakfast for almost 30 years, beginning with the popular Sausage or Bacon Breakfast Slider with Egg & Cheese in 1986. The White Castle Egg and Toast Sandwiches debuted in late 2011, and the Belgian Waffle Sliders lineup appeared in 2014. This is the first year White Castle will participate in World Egg Day.
