COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- White Castle's newest menu option has arrived just in time for summer! In an effort to respond to the increasingly on-the-go lifestyle of today's customers, the slider innovator tapped some of the country's smartest tech minds to create the ultimate option in mobile dining, the one-calorie Nano Slider. White Castle's latest Bold Move™ is available for a limited time beginning April 1.
"White Castle has been a pioneer in the food industry for 96 years and the Nano slider proves we continue to push the envelope. Our sliders have always been portable, but the Nano Slider brings mobility to a whole new level," said Jamie Richardson, White Castle vice president. "Science tells us that our technology will continue to improve at a rapid pace. Widely respected 'Crave Some Moore's Law' holds true that the number of sliders totaling one calorie will double every year!"
The smaller sized slider allows customers to enjoy all the deliciousness of White Castle's Original Slider – one calorie at a time! Working with nanotechnology experts, White Castle has created a proprietary method of shrinking food in both a healthy and safe manner. The Nano Slider, prepared using the same steam grilled method as the Original Slider, requires one calorie of energy to consume rendering the sandwich effectively calorie-neutral. Customers can expect to see the technology used on other menu items in the future.
"At White Castle, we're just getting started and we believe that we have the ability to bring this technology to our entire menu," said Richardson. "While we know that this is a bold next step in the food industry we are confident that our efforts will be rewarded. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and we will continue this momentum moving forward."
White Castle is exploring additional options for the nanotechnology. Recently, the company was successful in applying the technology to shrinking the infamous Crave Mobile, which would allow for the grilling of the Nano sliders in a more aptly sized manner. Talks have begun between White Castle and makers of mini toy cars to determine best practices for retrofitting the steam grills inside the nano-sized Crave Mobile.
