Whistleblower Law Collaborative Attorneys to Speak at Upcoming False Claims Act Events
BOSTON, April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Whistleblower Law Collaborative attorneys –frequent speakers on the False Claims Act – will be featured at two upcoming programs in Boston.
On May 11, 2017, Suzanne Durrell will speak at the Downtown Harvard Club for the Directors Roundtable Institute, a not-for-profit that organizes programming for Boards of Directors and their Advisors. The event, titled The False Claims Act: What Companies Should Know to Avoid Liability & Defend Claims, will address recent issues involving the federal and state FCAs and steps companies can take to prevent and defend against false claims. Ms. Durrell will be joined by speakers from the United States Attorneys' Office, the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, Grant Thornton, and Goodwin.
On May 18, 2017, Bob Thomas will speak at Ropes & Gray Boston on Hot Topics in Life Sciences: Whistleblower Insights & Trump's FDA. He will address The False Claims Act: Perspective of a Qui Tam Plaintiff's Lawyer and be joined by Ropes FCA defense lawyers who will share their insights and reactions. Additionally, Ropes FDA regulatory attorneys will discuss recent FDA-related developments and their implications for life sciences companies.
These programs cap off a year of exciting speaking and educational engagements for the Whistleblower Law Collaborative, including:
- Mr. Thomas' sixth year of teaching Health Care Fraud and Abuse at Boston University School of Law, covering the substantive areas of health care fraud prosecuted by government and plaintiff's attorneys.
- Ms. Durrell speaking at the Boston Bar Association's Healthcare Fraud Conference in May, the Federal Bar Association's program, Implications of the U.S. Supreme Court's June Escobar Ruling on False Claims Act Cases—Perspectives From all Sides of the Issues in July, and the BBA's program, "Off-Label Prescription Drug Use" in November.
