ENCINO, Calif., Oct. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- With the NCAA football season in full swing and the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings just around the corner, Answer Financial Inc. wondered how the top-ranked football cities fare when it comes to car insurance prices. So, courtesy of the leading auto insurance rate comparison platform in the U.S., this infographic takes a look at the average insurance rates for males, age 25-29, living in one of the "top 25"** cities based on the October 6th Associated Press (AP) Poll. Here are some highlights:

The Oregon Ducks are ranked #2 for football, but when it comes to car insurance prices Eugene is the city to beat, ranked #1 for the lowest rates at around $800 annually. This year QB Marcus Mariota may not walk away with the Heisman, and Oregon may ultimately be defeated in their battle with Alabama for the top spot, but when it comes to auto insurance prices, we're betting on the Ducks.
The Alabama Crimson Tide is the top ranked team in the NCAA. Roll, Tide! But, Tuscaloosa trails behind Eugene for our lowest insurance premiums score, with average rates at $982 per year. That's what we call an upset.
Knoxville is the home city of both the Tennessee Volunteers and Answer Financial's flagship sales center, and we're pleased to report that it ranked #10 for lowest insurance premiums, at $1,099. Our Vols didn't make the AP list this week, but they'll keep on fighting, "Rocky Top, you'll always be, home sweet home to me."
UCLA pays a whopping $1,911 for insurance. No surprise in the second most populated city in the U.S., but at least when it comes to football, the Bruins are holding a respectable 9th place spot and rank 10th in yards per play allowed. Their team may have a great defense, but it looks like LA drivers need to work on defensive driving.
The Miami Hurricanes may be 5-0, but Miami drivers have the worst odds when it comes to insurance, with the highest average premium on our list of over $2,600. As famed former sports broadcaster Keith Jackson might say, "Whoa, Nellie!"
