Analyst Update: Ratings, New Discoveries, Reports, and Dividends,

U.S. stocks mostly closed lower on Tuesday amid a mixed bag of earnings reports. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.47% to 17949.59, and the S&P 500 ended the session 0.15% lower at 2097.31. On a positive note, the NASDAQ gained 0.39% to close at 5014.10, mainly supported by big gains in biotechnology stocks amid strong M&A activities. European stocks continued their strong run on Tuesday. Major European markets closed the session higher, as Germany's DAX jumped 0.4%; Britain's FTSE 100 rose 0.15%, and France's CAC gained 0.10%. Meanwhile, Asian markets surged on Tuesday, recovering from their disappointing session on the previous day. The Shanghai Composite, Japan's Nikkei and Hong Kong's Hang Seng all posted positive gains.
Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (Petrobras) has announced the discovery of a new oil and gas accumulation in the Amazon Basin, Block AM-T-84. Preliminary well tests have confirmed the presence of light oil (API 47°) and gas in arenaceous reservoirs, extending from 1,350 meters to 1,900 meters deep.
Fitch Ratings affirmed the ratings for Alcoa Inc. including its Issuer Default Rating and senior unsecured debt at 'BB+'. This rating would affect almost $14 billion in commitments and securities. The Rating Outlook has been revised to Positive from Stable in recognition of permanent improvements to the Company's business profile.
On April 14, 2015, Vale S.A.'s Board of Directors had approved payment of the first installment of the 2015 minimum dividend of $1 billion (R$ 3,101,100,000.00), equivalent to $0.19 (R$ 0.60) per outstanding common or preferred share.
On April 16, 2015, Transocean Ltd. (Transocean) issued a comprehensive Fleet Status Report. The Report provides the current status of and contract information for the company's entire fleet of offshore drilling rigs. The total value of new contracts since the March 18, 2015, Fleet Update Summary is approximately $26 million.
Freeport- McMoran Inc. (Freeport- McMoran) had declared a cash dividend of $0.05 per share payable on May 1, 2015, to holders of record as of April 15, 2015, for its common stock. The Company's Board of Directors reduced the quarterly dividend from the previous rate of $0.3125 per share in response to the impact of lower commodity prices.
