SAN FRANCISCO, March 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tipping Point Community, the Bay Area's leading poverty-fighting organization since 2005, today announced the launch of SF Gives — a $10 million fund created by a coalition of business and tech industry leaders to fight poverty in the San Francisco Bay Area. Already, more than $5 million has been committed.
Here's what the founding members of SF Gives are saying:
"We are thrilled to be working with San Francisco's technology community and Tipping Point to help fight poverty in the Bay Area," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO, salesforce.com. "The SF Gives challenge builds on salesforce.com's commitment to giving back to the Bay Area community that has given us so much since our founding here 15 years ago."
"We're very excited to be working with Tipping Point Community on its SF Gives initiative and fight against poverty," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. "By joining forces with like-minded companies, we hope to help build a better future for the Bay Area and all its residents."
"As a community, San Francisco is the epitome of generosity when it comes to the aid and support of its citizens in need," said Trevor Traina, founder and CEO of IfOnly. "Personally, it just feels like the right thing for my company to do. IfOnly was created to help others and we support over 150 charities – so this exciting partnership with Tipping Point Community and SF Gives makes perfect sense."
"The time is right to make this significant and meaningful investment in the future of our great city," said Hosain Rahman, CEO and founder of Jawbone®. "SF Gives is more than a fundraising tool, it is a catalyst for change for San Francisco and the region. It's the opportunity to do what's right for all residents who call San Francisco home."
"LinkedIn's vision is to create economic opportunity for everyone," said Meg Garlinghouse, Head of LinkedIn for Good. "We are proud to support the Tipping Point organizations that help bring this vision to life in our local community."
"San Francisco is such an amazing place to live and work," said Brian and Lisa Sugar, co-founders of POPSUGAR Inc. "On behalf of POPSUGAR, we are thrilled to be part of the Tipping Point community in the fight to rid the Bay Area of poverty."
"We are inspired by Marc Benioff and Salesforce.com Foundation's leadership and by Tipping Point's stewardship with high impact community organizations serving those in need in the Bay Area," said Ken Weber, Executive Director, zynga.org. "Zynga and its San Francisco-based employees are proud of our company's growing tradition of giving back to San Franciscans and we are thrilled to be part of an important effort like SF Gives."
