Analyst Update: Acquisition, Launch of Business Unit, New Investment, Dividend, and Earnings

U.S. stocks tumbled on Thursday as Fed remained apprehensive about the interest rate outlook amid weaker than expected US first quarter economic data. The NASDAQ Composite was down 1.64%, to finish at 4941.42; the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 1.08%, to 17,840.52, and the S&P 500 ended 1.01% lower, at 2,085.51. Most importantly, the NASDAQ biotech index dropped 3.05% on Thursday and was down 8.1% in the past one week, led by disappointing earnings. European stocks gained on Thursday, supported by the strong euro and news of euro bloc's recovery from four consecutive months of deflation. Germany's DAX 30 rose 0.19%; France's CAC 40 jumped 0.14%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed 0.21% higher. Meanwhile, Asian markets mostly disappointed on Thursday. Japan's Nikkei, Australia's S&P ASX and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index all fell on Thursday.
On April 1, 2015, Huntington Bancshares Inc. announced the completion of its acquisition of Michigan-based Macquarie Equipment Finance, Inc. from its parent company, Sydney-based Macquarie Group Ltd (MEF-US).
On April 21, 2015, Wells Fargo & Company announced that it has created a specialty business group, Senior Housing Finance, to provide traditional banking and credit services for senior housing developers, investors, and operators.
On March 16, 2015, JPMorgan Chase and Omidyar Network announced a $10 million combined investment in FIRST, a private equity fund focused on serving the needs of low-income and underserved populations in Brazil.
On April 23, 2015, the Board of Directors of Regions Financial Corporation declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.06 per common share and authorized an equity repurchase program for up to $875 million of the Company's common stock.
On April 28, 2015, Reuetrs reported that Pfizer Inc. saw a 4% fall in Q1 FY15 revenue to $10.86 billion, hurt by a stronger dollar, but was above analysts' estimate of $10.76 billion. However, the drugmaker reported a better-than-expected profit, helped by demand for its vaccines and cancer drugs.
