AUSTIN, Texas, March 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- WGU Texas has partnered with El Paso-based Education Service Center (ESC), Region 19 to provide pathways to high-quality educational opportunities that support educators.
One of twenty regional service centers located throughout the state, ESC-Region 19 serves 12 school districts and seven charter schools in El Paso and Hudspeth counties and provides professional development and support to educators in the region.
"As a nonprofit, competency-based university, WGU Texas is proud of our ability to put higher education within reach for more Texans," said Dr. Steven Johnson, WGU Texas Chancellor. "Through this partnership, we are able to provide a path to bachelor's and master's degree programs that are flexible and affordable for working adults."
"ESC-Region 19 is excited about participating in opportunities that will further advance the education of our community," said Dr. Armando Aguirre, ESC-Region 19 Executive Director. "WGU Texas helps provide access to affordable higher education for many of our members who require a different pathway due to family or work responsibilities. This partnership advances our state's workforce helping fellow Texans to better their life through education."
Under the terms of the partnership, all ESC-Region 19 employees, partner school districts and charter schools are eligible to receive a five percent tuition discount (for up to four academic terms) off WGU Texas' flat-rate tuition of approximately $6,300 per year for most programs, and are eligible to apply for special scholarships.
