WGU Missouri Signs Partnership with Centene Corp.
Nonprofit online university will offer discounted tuition to hundreds of employees
ST. LOUIS, Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hundreds of employees at Centene Corporation will be eligible to receive discounted tuition to WGU Missouri under a new agreement between the institutions. The partnership will enhance workforce development in the St. Louis area by expanding access to affordable, flexible, and well-respected higher education.
WGU Missouri, a nonprofit, online university newly established in the state, allows working adults to customize the schedule and the pace of their college education, taking advantage of skills and knowledge they've already acquired.
"We're very excited about this educational opportunity for our employees," said Tony Myers, Vice President of Organizational Development and Training for Centene. "WGU Missouri's model provides a uniquely flexible and accessible gateway to higher education for working professionals."
Under the terms of the partnership, employees of Centene, a health care coverage provider, can receive a 5 percent discount on tuition for up to four 6-month terms. The discount will apply to any of WGU Missouri's degree programs in information technology, health care, teaching and business.
WGU Missouri was established February 15, 2013, by Governor Jay Nixon. The state's only fully online, competency-based university, WGU Missouri allows students to take advantage of prior learning and experience to move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn.
