CENTENNIAL, Colo., Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- It's Never 2 Late (iN2L), a pioneer of adaptive computer systems designed for residents in senior living communities, announced today it has been selected by Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay, an accredited, award-winning continuing care retirement community, to provide adaptive computers and programs for their residents. Under terms of the agreement, iN2L will install 31 adaptive computers in the rooms of long-term care residents with varying levels of cognitive impairment and provide training for residents, staff and caregivers. The computers are designed to help improve quality of life by keeping residents actively engaged with the help of technology and the Internet. Progressive retirement communities throughout the country are focused on ways technology can benefit their independent older adults. "It's easy to make assumptions about what older adults with any type of disability can and cannot do with technology," said Ben Unkle, CEO, Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay. "These assumptions are instantly shattered when user-friendly technology intersects with meaningful and appropriate content personalized for each resident." Unkle explained that Westminster-Canterbury chose to partner with iN2L because of their proven track record in senior living, and specifically their ability to individualize programs to help residents regardless of cognitive or physical disabilities. "We evaluated several technology vendors, and iN2L's experience in helping elders with dementia is why we chose them," Unkle added. "They have been a partner of ours for several years; this takes our relationship to the next level."
"We are excited about what this project means to the future of aging," said Jack York, co-founder and CEO, It's Never 2 Late. "For 15 years we have been delivering adaptive computer systems primarily used in group settings. This is a watershed project branching into individuals' rooms, and is the logical extension of our mission. Westminster-Canterbury continues to push the envelope of person-centered care and we are honored to be partnering with such an innovative organization."
