Westinghouse Announces 2011 Winner of Women in Nuclear Scholarship Award

PITTSBURGH, June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that Elizabeth Tomczak, a graduate of Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pa. (USA), is the company's 2011 winner of the Westinghouse Women in Nuclear (WIN) scholarship award.

The Westinghouse-WIN Pittsburgh chapter scholarship was established in 2007, and is awarded to a woman high school senior from the Pittsburgh area and intending to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics or physical sciences at an accredited college or university.  

Candidates are judged by a committee of Westinghouse WIN representatives who evaluate applicants based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and response to a two-part essay question. Ms. Tomczak, a standout academic performer and four-year member of the Pine-Richland varsity golf team, was selected over applicants from 33 Pittsburgh-area high schools. She will apply the $2500 scholarship award toward her undergraduate degree in engineering at Purdue University in the fall of 2011.
