Western Comedy Wild Oats Lassos The Little Theatre on Felician College's Rutherford Campus
Produced by 12 Miles West; Professional Equity Theatre Barrels Into South Bergen County April 17 to May 2
RUTHERFORD, N.J., April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American playwright James McLure's hilarious rewrite of an eighteenth century English comedy is sure to kick up some dust on stage at Felician College's Little Theater in Rutherford, NJ for nine performances, beginning April 17, 2015.
Set in Muleshoe, Texas, 12 Miles West Theatre Company's production has rustled up a fast-paced evening of zany cowboys, evil villains, damsels in distress – and even a bear—as McLure's satire celebrates the days of the ol' west in a rootin' tootin' spectacular farce.
A raucous plot follows the antics of Colonel Croftus Thunder, Jack Rover, Kate Thunder and the villainous Ephraim Smooth at the Last Chance Saloon. Donning costumes from 12 Miles West Theatre Company's collection—previously seen on stage at the Metropolitan Opera House and Covent Garden England—a cast of 18 wild and wacky characters will lighten hearts and lift spirits.
"Wild Oats marks the birth of Professional Equity Theater at Felician College," said Dr. Anne Prisco, President of Felician College. "Enriching the communities we serve with quality, affordable performing arts is reflective of Felician's vision to nurture a diverse population of students, while providing a clear benefit to residents of Bergen County and the surrounding areas of North-Central New Jersey."
Felician College also announced it will host a photo contest for a chance to win free tickets to Wild Oats on its Little Theater Facebook site.
