Westcon Group to Distribute Avaya Virtual Services Platform 9000 Globally
Designed to Help Customers Cost-Effectively Reap the Benefits of Virtualization, Virtual Services Platform to Be Featured in Westcon's New LEAP Training Center
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, infrastructure, data center, and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today announced further expansion of its Avaya relationship with the global distribution rights for the Avaya Virtual Services Platform (VSP) 9000. The platform is a key element in the Avaya Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (VENA) networking strategy, powering enterprises to more effectively reap the benefits of virtualization.
The Avaya VSP 9000 is a next-generation Ethernet Switching solution for mission-critical data centers. Avaya's VENA strategy ensures uninterrupted virtual application transition within and between data centers with the ability to fully leverage the hyper-scale delivered by next-generation products such as the Avaya VSP 9000.
"Today's networks are called upon to drive business agility, accelerate time-to-service, respond to the needs of new applications, and provide around-the-clock access – all despite the contraction of IT budgets. The Avaya VSP 9000 helps address those needs with a flexible and versatile platform that easily accommodates growth and change," said Steve Bandrowczak, Vice President and General Manager, Data Solutions, Avaya. "We're pleased to name Westcon Group among a select group of global distributors that are bringing this platform to market and helping customers worldwide power their next-generation data centers."
The Avaya VSP 9000 is specifically designed for organizations requiring scalable, high-density throughputs. The solution supports customers suffering from limitations imposed by performance and network architectures that result in poor application responsiveness, long application services deployment cycles, and time-consuming network configurations required as part of data center virtualization.
Further demonstrating its commitment to the Avaya VSP 9000, Westcon also announced plans to feature the solution in its recently announced LEAP (Learn, Experience, Architect and Plan) Centers-of-Excellence. These environments are designed to provide value-added resellers with a facility for hands-on training, technology demonstration, and customer briefings across a broad range of solutions targeted at today's data centers.
"For more than a decade, we've teamed with Avaya to bring their award-winning solutions to market, leveraging our global footprint of specialty resellers," said Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy, Senior Vice President, U.S. and Canada, Westcon Group. "At Westcon, we're committed to helping reseller partners sell new solutions, enabling customers to realize cost and efficiency savings associated with virtualizing business applications in the data center. The Avaya VSP 9000 aligns perfectly with this strategy, allowing partners to recognize new revenue opportunities offered by next-generation infrastructures – thus, providing tangible value to their customers."
