Westcon Group Accelerates Presence in Canada with New Regional Vice President and General Manager
Recognized Technology Leader Siobhan Byron to Lead Distributor's Canadian Operations
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center, and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today tapped industry veteran Siobhan Byron to lead its operations in Canada. Byron brings more than two decades of channel management experience with a deep understanding of forces affecting the Canadian distribution industry.
Byron comes to Westcon Group from Forsythe Technology – a top information technology integrator delivering broad-based consulting services, leasing, and solutions to customers throughout North America. While serving at Forsythe, Byron built the company's Canadian operations – achieving double-digit revenue performance for the region – and launched a successful Managed Services Business with superior customer service ratings. She is also the recipient of multiple industry honors -- twice being named to the "Top 20 Women of the Channel" ranking by Computer Dealer News.
Westcon Group's Canadian business continues to post strong performance, deepening both reseller partner relationships and vendor offerings. The division is also noted as one of Cisco's fastest-growing distributors. Westcon Canada recently played a significant role in the launch of BYODShield™, the distributor's unique subscription-based service designed to demystify complexities surrounding the flood of personal devices in the workplace.
"Our Canadian business continues to perform well, helping resellers generate new revenue streams based on an advanced networking, security, data center and unified communications portfolio," said Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy, Senior Vice President Westcon Group North America. "As we build the business and enter new markets, Siobhan is a perfect fit – bringing a proven ability for helping companies thrive in this highly competitive space."
Prior to Forsythe, Byron held executive roles at MTS Allstream – Canada's top IP communications provider with nearly 600,000 customer connections and 2,500 employees. She acted as Vice President of Professional Services (Central Region), including national Managed Services -- and also served as the company's National Director, Project Management Office.
"Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to collaborate with some of the top players in IT distribution. Time and again, I've been impressed with Westcon's strategic approach to the Canadian environment. Working together, I believe we can create new opportunities and business for our reseller partners across the region," said Siobhan Byron, Westcon Group Vice President and General Manager Canada.
