West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles Receives Identity Protection Awards from the Coalition for a Secure Driver's License

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Coalition for a Secure Driver's License (CSDL) presented the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) with an award for Identity Protection. Over twenty employees received certificates of achievement recognizing their significant achievement and contribution in protecting customer's identity and personal information, and preventing identity fraud.

The West Virginia DMV has established a secure driver's licensing process which mitigates the risk that criminals will fraudulently obtain a driver's license or state issued identification card under an assumed or fictitious identity. Among the DMV's many efforts to provide robust protections against identity theft and fraud include issuing tamper proof licenses with both overt and covert security features, taking administrative action when an imposter is detected, and conducting background investigations on DMV employees who have access to sensitive personal information.
