WellCare Rewards Obstetricians and Members for Prioritizing Prenatal and Postpartum Care

COLUMBIA, S.C. and TAMPA, Fla., April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognizing the important connection between prenatal care and health outcomes for newborns, WellCare of South Carolina, a WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) company, is rewarding expectant mothers who are members of its Medicaid plan and obstetricians belonging to the company's Medicaid network for obtaining and providing quality prenatal and postpartum care.

WellCare of South Carolina now offers an incentive to obstetricians who provide prescribed prenatal and postpartum care for the mother and infant. Additionally, members who meet their prescribed postpartum visit and Well Baby exams will receive a package of diapers after each visit.

Regular prenatal visits can help an obstetrician monitor the pregnancy and identify any problems or complications before they become serious. Preventing low birth weight is an important element to decreasing infant mortality.
