Weiner Public News Winning Team at National Press Club 5k Race -- Appropriate Given the News!

WASHINGTON, June 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Anthony Weiner may not be getting good press these days but at least one Weiner team has positive news --

Weiner Public News, the oped-writing and public affairs and issues group formed by Bob Weiner after he left the White House in 2001, today won the team title at the National Press Club 5K in Washington. Weiner Public News was both the fastest overall team, and also the fastest media group team. (The jokes were flying at the National Press Club awards ceremony about the Weiner team's winning the title).

Weiner Public News won the open team race, ahead of Georgetown Running Company and Chevy Chase Running Company. Weiner's top three finishers were Ethiopian journalist Seife Geletu, who led for most of the race but was misguided by the lead vehicle with just 400 meters to go, and ended up third overall in 15:40; Ethiopian columnist Kumsa Wodajo Eticha (16:23, 2nd overall); and Air Force officer Michael Musiowski (17:53). Also on the team: Jay Wind (23:00), Bob Weiner (25:32), and Patricia Berg (42:59). Weiner's team defeated Georgetown Running company by a very close cumulative 12 seconds.
