Weigh and Win Tops 90,000 Participants in Colorado
DENVER, Aug. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- incentaHEALTH's Weigh and Win program has been paying Colorado residents to lose weight since 2011 and this week the program announced they have surpassed 90,000 enrollments with a combined weight loss of more than 300,000 pounds.
The program has more than 100 kiosk locations across the state where participants can weigh-in, sign up for nutrition and weight loss coaching and continue to track their progress every 90 days. A recent study by Virginia Tech University and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine) found that nearly three out of four participants have lost weight while utilizing Weigh and Win and similar programs offered by incentaHEALTH.
"This is an exciting milestone for Weigh and Win, as it illustrates the impact the program has made across the state," said Lia Schoepke, Director of Civic Partnerships and Development for incentaHEALTH. "The increasing uptake and average of 1,000 enrollments per month, coupled with 71 percent of participants losing weight, shows continued need for this program not just in Colorado but across the nation."
Weigh and Win recently entered the consumer market by introducing the Smart Scale + Visual Body Analyzer, giving participants the option to weigh-in from the comfort of their own home rather than going to a public kiosk location. The scale comes with a companion app that offers a premium coaching option, daily nutrition and exercise plans and additional coaching support. The Smart Scale + Visual Body Analyzer will officially launch this fall. The scale, like the kiosks, gives participants the chance to earn cash rewards for weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes. The average weight loss of a successful participant after one year using incentaHEALTH's innovative program is 8 percent, or about 18 pounds.
Weigh and Win is the product of digital healthcare company incentaHEALTH and is primarily supported by Kaiser Permanente in an effort to encourage healthy eating and active living throughout Colorado.
