WEGENER(R) Receives $460,000 in New Orders
Separate orders for Compel(R) Network Control and Unity(R) 552 Media Receivers
DULUTH, Ga., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced receiving separate orders, with a combined total of over $460,000, for Compel® network control equipment and several hundred Unity 552 media receivers.
The Compel equipment will be used to create a redundant control center and expand a national radio network. The Unity media receivers will be used within an educational network to explore strategies to save bandwidth on international broadcasts.
Compel network control provides scheduling, management and delivery of media content to multiple devices, including video screens, computers and audio devices. It offers dynamic command, monitoring and addressing of receivers within a multi-site network. Every WEGENER receiver is under a central network operator's Compel control for field-proven hands-free or unmanned operations. Compel can simultaneously support multiple applications including: digital signage, linear and file-based TV distribution, linear and file-based radio distribution, broadcast news distribution, business music distribution, corporate communications, video and audio simulcasts.
The Unity 552 media receiver is designed for live HD or SD enterprise video broadcasts. It provides network operators an opportunity to save 40-70% signal bandwidth using MPEG-4(h.264) video compression and DVB-S2 modulation when compared with the current video compression and satellite modulation standards. It is designed for networks transitioning live video broadcasts from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4(h.264) video compression - from pilot programs, edge networks, through a full network conversion.
"WEGENER continues to optimize and refine our media distribution solution to enable reliable, flexible 24/7 operations," stated Troy Woodbury, CEO of WEGENER. "It is with pleasure we support our customers as they build and maintain their video, audio and data networks."
The Compel order will be shipped during WEGENER's third quarter and the Unity 552 order will be shipped during WEGENER's second quarter.
