WEGENER to Showcase Advanced Media Localization Tools at 2010 NAB Show
Highlighting the use of file-based broadcasting in digital signage, broadcast TV, radio and international network expansions
DULUTH, Ga., April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced it will showcase a number of innovative media localization solutions at the 2010 NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 12-15 (NAB Booth #SU4902). The NAB Show is the world's largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums. As an exhibitor, WEGENER will promote the various ways file-based broadcasting tools can be used to enhance commercial and private media networks with local audio, graphic and video content.
Digital Signage
WEGENER introduces a new Digital Signage solution optimized to generate and control compelling, professional messages. The introduction reinforces WEGENER's commitment to clients within Systems Integration, Advertising Agencies, Banking, Private Media Networks, Healthcare, Houses of Worship, Retail and Corporate Communications to support multiple clients, marketing zones and applications simultaneously. It provides robust tools to design and control video, graphic & text sequences, and scheduling tools to maximize the use of local advertising, branding and emergency notifications.
The end-to-end Digital Signage solution includes WEGENER's CompelConnect.com™ SaaS (software-as-service) network control and iPump® media players. The package is designed to seamlessly scale from a pilot to a multi-site installation.
Broadcast TV
WEGENER offers the next generation of solutions to increase advertising and branding opportunities for content providers. Combining file-based workflows and standard broadcasting techniques for live video, WEGENER is introducing methods to insert and overlay multimedia elements over live high definition (HD) or standard definition (SD) video on a network-wide scale. This will allow content providers to customize national live feeds with static and moving text messages, transparent graphics overlays and local insertions of video.
The basic architecture for WEGENER's solution is an add-on to a standard satellite receiver network utilizing Compel network control and iPump 6400 media servers.
Radio
Since the introduction of the iPump 6420 professional audio server, WEGENER has offered the radio broadcasting world new opportunities to combine file-based content with live broadcasts. Innovations have included:
- ShowShifting™ - allowing either affiliates or the network operator to specify when and how often specific syndication programs play
- MicroCasting™ - providing remote affiliate stations with highly customized content while retaining all of the normal network features including: local ad insertion, local liners, downstream equipment cueing, and Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) data
The robust Compel network control platform includes refinements specifically designed for central-casting radio networks. It easily supports 1000s of grouping options and combinations to assist dynamic content distribution to affiliates.
In addition, WEGENER has Off Air Recording tools for radio networks and their advertisers to provide the highest level of confidence in ad play-out.
International Network Expansions
WEGENER highlights video network solutions for content providers interested in international expansion. Efficient strategies include using iPump media servers for time-delayed broadcasts, regional video and audio insertions.
Media Localization Network Control Tools
The next generation of WEGENER network control, including the SaaS (Software as a Service) version, CompelConnect.com™, expands on a heritage of controlling finely-targeted content distribution for radio and video networks. WEGENER will showcase its new web-based digital signage tools for sequencing multiple, independent, overlapping layers of graphic and text information.
WEGENER Compel network control systems allow clients to manage both live and file-based content over satellite and terrestrial paths. They offer the ability to create 1000s of dynamic grouping combinations to maximize media localization to WEGENER receivers and media players. The network control system is designed to support multiple clients and end-user environments simultaneously.
Editor's Note: WEGENER's Vice President of Product Strategy and Development, Kamy Merithew, will take part in the following panel at the 2010 NAB Show:
