Weedmaps, LLC Purchased by General Cannabis, Inc.
COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today General Cannabis, Inc. (Pink Sheets: CANA) formerly LC Luxuries Limited (Pink Sheets: LLUX) proudly announces it has purchased Weedmaps, LLC. The purchase is a combination of cash and stock with additional earn out potential for the two co-founders of Weedmaps, LLC, Justin Hartfield and Keith Hoerling. Both Hartfield and Hoerling have entered into long term employment contracts with General Cannabis, Inc. and will immediately assume the roles of Chief Web Officer and Chief Technology Officer.
"This purchase has been in the planning stages for a long time and we are incredibly excited to have completed the transaction. We believe there is tremendous potential in the Cannabis industry, and General Cannabis truly represents the future of the industry" comments Hartfield.
Hoerling agrees: "The cannabis industry is valued at tens of billions of dollars and is still in its infantile stage. Weedmaps is a tight-knit group of creative engineers, a technology think-tank at the core, and fusing with General Cannabis builds a more holistic synergy of talent that better positions us to serve our industry as it matures. You haven't seen anything yet; we're just getting started!"
Doug Francis, Chairman & President of General Cannabis, adds: "The acquisition of Weedmaps, and the addition of Hartfield and Hoerling to the intellectual and creative process of General Cannabis will create a wealth of innovation that this Company intends to develop as it redefines this industry." Francis continued with "It is the goal of General Cannabis not just to offer exceptional service for our end users, but to create multiple vertical operational and B2B services that simultaneously capture significant market share while creating new ancillary businesses along the way."
Jim Pakulis, CEO of General Cannabis agrees: "Weedmaps is a phenomenal asset for General Cannabis. The unique technology expertise and synergy that Keith and Justin will contribute to the General Cannabis corporate and developmental teams, now and in the future will be an exceptional benefit to the Company and its growth. I couldn't imagine any other single acquisition for General Cannabis that could have offered the potential contained in this acquisition."
