Webster University's Walker Business School Announces MBA Degree with New 'Global Track'
Program Available at All Webster Campus Locations
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology at Webster University has established a new "Global Track" for its MBA degree program that is available to MBA students at all Webster University campus locations – whether in St. Louis, throughout the United States or around the world.
Students who complete the 42-credit-hour MBA – Global Track will gain an in-depth familiarity with subject matter related to the global business marketplace, including a required travel course that will expose students to international thought, culture and business practices.
In addition to 30 credit hours of core MBA courses, the MBA – Global Track also includes 12 credit hours of international courses, including at least one three-credit-hour international experience course – either an overseas graduate level course or an innovative online-global hybrid course involving one week of international experience and company visits.
"Recent student survey data revealed that many non-traditional students are interested in study abroad experiences, but are deterred from participating in traditional study abroad offerings primarily due to cost, full-time jobs or family obligations," said Walker School of Business Dean Benjamin Ola. Akande. "Through the new MBA – Global Track, global hybrid courses can be subsidized by our Walker Travel Fund to provide opportunities to have an international experience and attain a globally focused MBA."
Akande said qualified students will receive up to $1,000 as a one-time travel award to defray the cost of traveling abroad to participate in a global hybrid course.
"We really listened to our students," said Anne Browning, program director for the Walker School. "This program is diverse and flexible and is particularly suited for working adults who cannot study abroad for an extended time but still want an international experience."
"Employers are looking for global skills," said Akande. "This new program helps to establish the Walker School as a center of excellence in offering globally excellent business education to communities around the world."
