Webroot Takes Gold and Silver at PCMag.com's Best of the Year Awards 2011
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, a leader in delivering Internet security as a service, today announced PCMag.com has named Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ AntiVirus its Gold Winner in the Security Antivirus category for PCMag.com's "Best Products of 2011." The editors also anointed Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ Complete a Silver Winner in the Security Suite category.
Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus and Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete were among only 4 percent of the products tested by PCMag.com analysts in 2011 to earn a prestigious Best of the Year Award. The elite winners were selected from among the more than 2,000 laptops, desktops, digital cameras, HDTVs, security suites, productivity apps and cloud-based storage services reviewed by PCMag.com analysts.
PCMag.com said the following of Gold Winner Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus: "The entire product would fit on a 3.5-inch diskette with room to spare. But small size isn't Webroot's only virtue. In PCMag's malware blocking tests it scored unprecedented perfect tens across the board; scores in our malware removal tests were very good. It installs in a flash, and a full scan takes just minutes."
The awards are the latest in a series of acclaims for the products; in October, Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus and Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete both earned Editors' Choice Awards from PCMag.com, marking the 12th time Webroot has received the honor.
In PCMag.com's October review of Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, the author reported Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus "turned in the only perfect malware blocking score I've ever encountered in my years of testing."
In selecting Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete as its Silver Winner, PCMag.com cited the product's "very impressive behavior-based malware protection" as well as its "excellent password management and powerful, flexible backup and file synchronization."
PCMag.com's review of Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete called it "the smallest and lightest security suite ever" and in its "Best 2012 Security Suites" guide, PCMag.com called Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete "this season's breakout success."
"PCMag.com is highly regarded for using industry-standard benchmarks and tests to produce reviews that millions of consumers trust to help them choose the best products," said Chris Benham, chief demand officer at Webroot. "We are extremely honored to be recognized by PCMag.com in two categories this year, which further validates that Webroot SecureAnywhere is the fastest, lightest, least disruptive and most effective PC security available today."
