BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, the market leader in cloud-based, real-time internet threat detection, today announced that its Webroot BrightCloud® IP Reputation Service will be offered as part of the HP Enterprise Security Products portfolio to enhance visibility into threats introduced to customer networks by corporate and employee-owned (BYOD) mobile devices.
The BrightCloud® IP Reputation Service is a real-time threat intelligence service that helps enterprise customers identify malicious IPs in their network traffic. Webroot has enhanced the BrightCloud IP Reputation Service to leverage Webroot's world class Mobile App Reputation database of over 11 million mobile applications. This allows the service to detect communication channels that malicious apps use to control or extract sensitive personal or business data. HP users can now utilize this feature to identify malicious IP traffic associated with mobile apps.
"Teaming up with an industry leader like HP demonstrates the value of our threat intelligence services to greatly improve efficacy and proactively identify threats," said Scott Merkle, vice president of enterprise and OEM sales at Webroot. "By adding mobile threat IPs to our already industry leading IP reputation services, network security providers like HP can further enhance the detection of threats introduced by BYOD and the multitude of mobile devices connected to the enterprise network."
The BrightCloud IP Reputation Service helps network and security vendors augment their customers' defenses by adding a dynamic IP reputation service. Through a continuously updated feed of over 12 million malicious IP addresses, IT security administrators can easily identify threats and protect their networks. With this service, the time required to identify new and existing IP threats is drastically reduced, and administrators gain visibility into various types of threats, allowing them to make better informed threat decisions.
The BrightCloud IP Reputation Service will be available to HP customers at the end of the calendar year.
