BROOMFIELD, Colo., Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, the market leader in intelligent cybersecurity for endpoints and advanced threat intelligence, today announced achievements from its second fiscal quarter, which ended December 31, 2014. Highlights from the second quarter include double-digit year-over-year revenue growth, massive expansion of the company's SMB business and network of managed service providers (MSPs), and the release of enhanced endpoint protection solutions.
Significant Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth
Webroot achieved significant revenue growth in the second fiscal quarter, driven by strong license sales in the consumer, small and medium-sized business (SMB) and OEM segments, which reported year-over-year increases of 17%, 76% and 15% respectively. This new business resulted in the addition of over 750,000 new home users, 6,000 new business customers and 900 new MSPs added during the year.
"As we move towards a cyber-society with online banking, online retail and other web services becoming a way of life, cybercrime has also become more advanced, targeted and sophisticated," said Dick Williams, CEO at Webroot. "This plus increasing regulatory pressures and new cybersecurity legislation is now driving organizations to respond with strong security measures. Our advanced threat intelligence and smarter approach to cloud-based security have positioned us extremely well to meet these needs. As a result, we've seen amazing demand over the last year as customers and partners extend their capabilities by harnessing the power of Webroot's collective threat intelligence."
Strategic Security Alliances and Partnerships
Webroot's second quarter growth was also benefited by an integration with HP. The Webroot BrightCloud® IP Reputation Service is offered as part of the HP Enterprise Security Products portfolio to enhance visibility into threats introduced to customer networks by corporate and employee-owned (BYOD) mobile devices. ThreatMetrix has integrated the Webroot BrightCloud® Mobile App Reputation Service into its ThreatMetrix™ Global Trust Intelligence Network (The Network) to detect the presence of malicious or unwanted apps in order to reduce the risk of personal information theft.
In addition to the integrated solutions, Webroot continued very good growth in Asia Pacific, recently expanding an agreement with Yamada Denki. The leading consumer electronics retailer in Japan has become a fully enabled distribution partner with primary focus on Webroot SecureAnywhere® AntiVirus, which provides advanced real-time protection against both known and unknown malware.
Rapid Product Innovation
To support its strong trajectory, Webroot introduced several enhanced solutions and service integrations. Recent announcements included new updates to its Webroot SecureAnywhere portfolio for individuals and families. Enhancements bring customers more comprehensive security with webcam protection, advanced journaling and rollback, and enhanced self-learning malware detection. Webroot also provides businesses greater device visibility and management with the latest Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business Mobile Protection. The new release includes visibility into employees' risky mobile application behavior, and enables enterprise-level view into mobile applications installed across businesses of all sizes, as well as insight into the specific security risks associated with those applications.

During the quarter, cloud-based security solutions from Webroot received industry recognition for superior functionality and performance. Webroot was again named as a Visionary in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms, and also received the highest customer satisfaction scores of any vendor in the Magic Quadrant comparison.
