Takashi Sawai Appointed General Manager, Japan
BOULDER, Colo., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, a leading Internet security provider for the consumer, enterprise and SMB markets, today announced it has appointed Masahiro Morimoto to the new role of vice president, Asia-Japan. A 35-year veteran of sales and management for technology companies with operations in Japan and the Asia Pacific region, Morimoto will be responsible for driving all aspects of Webroot's success in the consumer and enterprise sales channels in Asia.
"Masahiro has a strong track record for building operations in the Asian market for technology companies, establishing important relationships and rapidly growing their revenues and increasing market penetration," said Dick Williams, chief executive officer at Webroot. "Masahiro will be a great asset to Webroot as we grow our business globally through investments in research, development and support."
Morimoto was most recently vice president of Sales Operations in Asia Pacific and Japan for Wily Technology, where he oversaw the company's relationships with major regional partners and customers. He maintained this role when the company was acquired in 2006 by Computer Associates. Prior to Wily, Morimoto was vice president of Enterprise Business Development at Symantec Corporation where he built the company's channel sales programs in Japan and South Korea. Morimoto also previously held field operations leadership roles in the Japan and Asia Pacific markets for KIVA, which was acquired in 1997 by Netscape, and Illustra Information Technologies, which was acquired in 1996 by Informix.
Morimoto has also established and managed subsidiary operations of several major software companies, including Digital Research (acquired by Novell in 1991), Sony Microsystems (a division of Sony America) and Xerox. In addition, as vice president of Novell, Morimoto developed the company's system technology for non-conventional Novell business environments including the retail, office-automation market and production-automation markets.
Webroot has also named Takashi Sawai general manager of its Japanese operations. Reporting to Morimoto, Sawai is responsible for accelerating Webroot's growth across the region. Sawai brings to Webroot more than 26 years of executive leadership, sales, and marketing experience with global information technology leaders. Most recently Sawai was chief operating officer of Startforce, where he established the company's branch in Japan and introduced the company's consumer products to the enterprise market. Sawai previously held leadership positions with Salesforce.com, Oracle, Microsoft, Symantec Japan and Cisco.
"Takashi brings to Webroot proven success in enabling businesses to expand across vertical and geographic markets," said Don Beck, senior vice president of Worldwide Field Operations at Webroot. "With these additions to our Asia operations, Webroot is well positioned for aggressive growth in the next fiscal year and well beyond."
