Webroot Appoints Mel Morris Chief Technology Officer
Technology Leader and Innovator to Drive Development of Cloud-based Endpoint Security
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, a leader in delivering Internet security as a service, today announced the appointment of Mel Morris as chief technology officer. Morris will be responsible for driving strategic advancements to the company's cloud-based security services and delivery platforms, building on the foundation Webroot laid for revolutionizing the security industry with the October 2011 launch of Webroot® SecureAnywhere™ technology.
Morris brings to the role a long history of senior executive leadership and technology innovation, including the founding and growth of three profitable technology companies. He joined Webroot as chief architect following the company's October 2010 acquisition of Prevx, which he founded in 2005.

Prior to that he was senior vice president of Platinum Technology, where he led the development of new products to help organizations manage and improve their IT infrastructures. Prior to that he was chief executive officer of Prometrics (formerly Minitech), a renowned manufacturer of capacity and performance management software, which was later acquired by Platinum Technology.
Morris is actively involved in a number of technology groups and associations including the Information Technologists' Company (ITC), a charitable and educational program which uses the expertise of its members to help non-profit organizations gain the maximum benefit from their IT solutions. He is also chairman of King.com, the world's largest skill gaming portal with more than 20 million monthly users playing casual games for fun.
