Webinar Discusses Best Practices, Challenges, and Solutions for Auto Features in Public Sector Retirement Savings Plans
WASHINGTON, June 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Auto-enrollment best practices in public sector defined contribution plans and how to implement them were presented in a webinar, "Auto Features in Public Sector Retirement Savings Plans," hosted by Gregory Dyson, Senior Vice President, Chief Operations and Marketing Officer, ICMA-RC; Joshua Franzel, Vice President of Research, Center for State and Local Government Excellence (the Center); and Paula Sanford, Public Service Associate, Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.
Discussion points in the webinar were based on a recent study and forthcoming studies authored by Sanford that highlight state and local government plan sponsors addressing opportunities for auto enrollment and auto escalation, challenges facing local governments wishing to implement auto enrollment programs, and practices to facilitate the use of automatic features at the state and local level.
"ICMA-RC has been a longtime supporter of the Center and we felt this webinar would be a good opportunity to share valuable information with public sector plan sponsors," said Joan McCallen, President and CEO of ICMA-RC. "It is important that we continue to educate public sector employees about topics that are relevant to them, and we share in the Center's mission to address the challenges facing state and local governments as they work to attract and nurture the best workforce for the 21st century."
In conjunction with the webinar, the Center will soon release a study further discussing auto features. For more information about the Center's research, visit www.slge.org. Click here to view the recorded webinar.
