Weather Central LIVE:Wire and LIVE:Wire LX alerting products now integrate with FOX Splicer System
MADISON, Wis., March 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Weather Central, provider of the most-viewed weather system in the world, today announced that the company's LIVE:Wire and LIVE:Wire LX products are the first automated severe weather alerting systems to integrate with the FOX Splicer System. LIVE:Wire communicates directly with the FOX Splicer to send warning crawl information for direct encoding into the MPEG stream. This allows FOX stations to maintain the highest quality HD signal while also broadcasting life-saving severe weather information.
Thomas Edwards, VP, Engineering & Development, FOX Technology Group states, "We are very pleased that Weather Central will be implementing the emergency alert text crawl API interface to the FOX Splicer System. This is an important capability that has been requested by many of our affiliates."
"We work hard to continually improve our products and provide solutions to the problems our customers face," says Bill Boss, vice president of product management and development at Weather Central. "When FOX approached us to develop a solution that integrated our weather alerts into their high-quality video, we embraced the opportunity to assist in their efforts. The value was clear to us: integration with the splicer allows stations to provide important, local information, at any time, quickly and easily without losing the quality their audience expects."
LIVE:Wire and LIVE:Wire LX can be integrated at any FOX affiliate station even if they have no other weather programming or utilize another vendor's alerting system that does not offer Weather Central's FOX Splicer integration technology.
