Wealth-X Announces Country Rankings for UHNW in Asia
Leading Intelligence Firm Offers Wealth and Asset Managers A Map To Growth
SINGAPORE, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Wealth-X, the world's foremost UHNW prospecting, intelligence and wealth diligence solution, today announced the publication of its latest intelligence briefing. After analyzing proprietary research generated from the Wealth-X database, including data from a wide range of government, banking and media sources, Wealth-X estimates nearly 43,000 individuals across Asia worth more than US$ 30 million. This briefing examines the rapidly growing presence of UHNW individuals across Asia, and has ranked the top 14 countries in the region according to UHNW counts.
Japan is listed as #1 in the Wealth-X rankings with a total of 13,000 UHNWs. Mainland China and India are placed as #2 and #3 correspondingly, with a combined worth exceeding US$ 2.5 trillion. Research shows that both Mainland China and India lead the Asian charge with nearly 20,000 UHNW individuals between the two countries. Hong Kong comes in as #4 with 3,200 UHNW individuals, while Taiwan is placed as #7 with 1,050 UHNW individuals.
Singapore, one of two leading private banking hubs in the region, features in at #6 with 1,350 UHNW individuals who are worth at least US$ 160 billion. Additional pockets of wealth include Indonesia, which is home to 575 UHNW individuals worth US$ 70 billion in aggregate, while Malaysia and Thailand stand at #8 and #9 respectively. Positioned at #14 on the list is Sri Lanka, which consists of 60 UHNW individuals collectively worth at least US$ 10 billion.
The combined wealth of UHNW individuals across Asia amounts to a total of US$ 6.2 trillion when accounting for shares in public and private companies, residential and investment properties, art collections, planes, cash and other investible assets.
