WDIV-TV Local 4 and The Parade Company will dazzle metro Detroiters June 22 at 8 p.m. with live broadcast of "The Ford Fireworks"

DETROIT, June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Local 4, Detroit's Big Event Station, is getting ready to bring the metro Detroit community some big summertime fun. Movie star Terry Crews, American Idol finalist Jena Irene and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Dwele will be part of WDIV's live broadcast of "The Ford Fireworks." And, only Local 4 viewers will see the world premiere of Jena Irene's new song, "Unbreakable."
In addition, Local 4's annual Super Singer competition takes place during "The Ford Fireworks" and gives talented local artists a chance to shine in front of a television audience of hundreds of thousands. Five semi-finalists were chosen from nearly 400 audition videos. The semi-finalists are Zania Alake' of Detroit, Angela Davis of Southfield, Peter Beard of Detroit, Taya Lear McCormick of Marysville and Dan Fauls of Garden City.
Five singers will be narrowed down to two finalists by a panel of celebrity judges. The top two will then sing for the public's vote. Viewers vote online at ClickOnDetroit.com during the show to choose the final winner. Celebrity judges include American Idol finalist Jena Irene of Farmington Hills, R&B hit artist and Detroit native Dwele and Local 4 meteorologist Ben Bailey.
One lucky viewer who votes for his or her favorite Super Singer on ClickOnDetroit will win a $500 gift card courtesy of Somerset Collection. The Super Singer winner receives a $2,500 cash prize, a front-of-the-line pass to audition for NBC's "The Voice" plus will open for The Beach Boys and The Temptations at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre, August 9, 2015.
Anchors Carmen Harlan, Devin Scillian and Ben Bailey, along with Chuck Gaidica, host this three-hour primetime special live from The Parade Company's exclusive rooftop venue overlooking the Detroit River. "The Ford Fireworks" is the highest rated local entertainment television event of the summer and one of the nation's largest fireworks displays.
Last year's Super Singer winner, Kenny Nelson, will sing both the American and Canadian national anthems as helicopters fly by with each country's flag on display in the night sky.
