National and local celebrities judge Super Singer competition
DETROIT, June 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Local 4 News anchors Carmen Harlan, Devin Scillian and Chuck Gaidica host this three-hour primetime special, live on Local 4, from an exclusive rooftop venue overlooking the Detroit River. The Ford Fireworks is the highest rated local television event of the summer and one of the world's largest fireworks displays. New this year, the return of WDIV-TV Local 4's popular Super Singer competition, spotlighting five of metro Detroit's best vocalists.
During The Ford Fireworks, the five semi-finalists will be narrowed down to two finalists by a panel of celebrity judges. The top two will then sing for the public's vote. Viewers can vote online at ClickOnDetroit.com and on smart phones during the show to choose the final winner. Celebrity judges include The Ellen Show's DJ Tony Okungbowa; hometown musician and The Voice finalist Tony Lucca; and Shannon Murphy, co-host of Mojo in the Morning on Channel 955.
One lucky viewer who votes for their favorite Super Singer will win two tickets to see Beyonce, courtesy of Pepsi and a $500 cash prize, courtesy of Wallside Windows. The Super Singer winner receives a front-of-the-line pass for The Voice auditions in St. Louis; two tickets to see Beyonce; a $2,000 cash prize; and opens for The Temptations and The Four Tops, with the Larry Lee Band, at Freedom Hill on August 9.
Detroit's own Fifty Amp Fuse will sing both the American and Canadian national anthems as helicopters fly by with each country's flag on display in the night sky.
