DETROIT, Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement may be attributed to Tina Bassett, WCCCD spokesperson:
"At Wayne County Community College District our foremost priority is the safety of our students, administrators, faculty and visitors. The WCCCD Administration Building has been evacuated due to a building emergency by the Detroit Police Department.
"The makings of what looked like a poorly constructed pipe bomb was found in the ceiling of the Chancellor's office. The Detroit Police Department bomb squad has removed the materials from the building for further investigation.
"No incidents occurred prior to or during the evacuation. The Administration building will be open for regular business tomorrow, Friday, September 29th.
"The WCCCD Downtown Campus was not affected by the incident."
