WBNS-10TV Raises More Than $81,000 For Hurricane Victims
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- WBNS-10TV partnered with the Salvation Army on Tuesday, September 12, for a day of giving to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma and raised (to date) more than $81,000.
The day started with an all-day telethon from 5am to 7pm, followed by an hour-long locally produced special on 10TV, Central Ohio's Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief, leading into a star-studded national telethon to benefit victims on the CBS Network.
10TV pulled all of this together in less than 24 hours.
"This would not have been possible without the Salvation Army volunteers who devoted their day to helping others. I would also like to extend a thank you to Ohio State and NFL legend Eddie George and CBS News Correspondent David Begnaud who joined us for the special to share first-hand stories of where the greatest need is," said Kelly Frank, WBNS-10TV Director of News & Digital Content.
"I'd like to thank Central Ohioans for their generosity," said John Cardenas, WBNS-10TV President and General Manager. "Our commitment to serving the community is a top priority for us."
Together, with hard work, and the generous donations of central Ohio, WBNS-10TV helped raise more than $81,000 for hurricane relief. The money will be used for food, shelter and supplies for those hit hardest in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and the Southeast.
WBNS-10TV is owned and operated by The Dispatch Printing Company, a highly respected, awarding-winning organization which includes WTHR-TV, WBNS-10TV, 97.1 The Fan, 1460 ESPN Radio, and Ohio News Network Radio.
