Waypoint Outcomes Provides Service to the Sloan Consortium
PHILADELPHIA, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Waypoint Outcomes provides academic assessment and analysis technologies to higher learning institutions. The Sloan Consortium used Waypoint in its ongoing professional development sequence to easily gather data aligned with Sloan's Student Retention Strategies.
Higher learning administrators and education professionals participated in a professional development workshop assessing their own institution's approaches to student retention.
Sloan-C, a professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education, utilized Waypoint Outcomes Web-based software in its April 7-16 Retention Strategies in Online Education online session. Completion of the workshop applies toward the Sloan-C certificate in Administration.
Participants learned strategies for improving student retention at their institution and became versed in instructional designs that create an educational culture that encourages students to complete their degrees.
Using Waypoint, each participant assessed their institution's knowledge of retention strategies to gauge impact, cost effectiveness, time efficiency and attainability of the approaches taught in the course.
"The consortium offers more than 75 workshops annually. Thousands of higher education professionals enroll in our classes," Dr. Janet Moore, chief knowledge officer for the Sloan Consortium, said. "This is the first time we used Waypoint's e-assessment tools to provide workshop participants with formal, real-time feedback, which would otherwise be a painstaking, manual task."
She adds that utilizing the software in other workshops is being considered. "I'd like to have the data and the capability to analyze how participants are performing across multiple courses," she said.
"The Sloan Consortium, a non-profit organization, is deeply rooted in its mission to improve the quality, scale and breadth of online higher education," Andrew McCann, CEO of Waypoint Outcomes, said. "Waypoint's mission is to provide educational institutions with innovative technology to inspire learning and document success. Our missions mirror one another, and we are pleased to support such a well-established global leader."
With more than 35 institutions, including schools in the United States, Canada and Europe, Waypoint Outcomes is used to create better feedback for tens of thousands of students; to manage course evaluations; and to generate rich data on learning outcomes.
