All Personnel Decisions Including Salaries
A Continuing Commitment To Transparent Accountability
DETROIT, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) continues to provide the most transparent and open communication among community colleges in the nation by posting all personnel decisions including salaries on its web site.
At the March 24, 2010 WCCCD Board of Trustees meeting, Chancellor Curtis L. Ivery announced, "We believe that by providing more detailed information about all of our personnel decisions, including hires, staff transfer and re-assignments, and salaries, we are further demonstrating our commitment to accountability to the citizens of the District who provide support through their tax dollars.
"We plan on expanding our transparency initiative by continuing to post every function of this College along with budget information. We will post every expenditure. We are very proud of how this college district operates and how it is financially managed.
"We recently had to cap enrollment for the first time in our history, and we want to assure that each dollar provided to us is spent with maximum impact on the students we serve. This is especially critical during this period of economic uncertainty and declining revenues. Tough decisions have to be made and we want to demonstrate that every personnel decision is guided by our commitment to good stewardship of the resources provided to us."
WCCCD currently provides a comprehensive web-based transparency program to a wide variety of financial documents, including monthly financial reports, Board of Trustees reports and audit reports. The new personnel transparency initiative will contain various workgroup categories, a generic organizational chart, seniority lists and more.
Its Transparency & Accountability Initiative, implemented in 2005, gained national attention among higher learning institutions and have proven to be one of the most valuable management tools in ensuring the responsible execution of strategic plans.
Wayne County Community College District is one of the fastest growing community colleges in the nation averaging more than 70,000 credit and non-credit students per semester.
