Waterfall Weekend Getaway: Discover Eleven Breathtaking Falls in Three Days
Historic precipitation leads to flourishing waterfalls in Redding and Shasta Cascade
REDDING, Calif., April 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A unique concentration of waterfalls once created by volcanic activity allows visitors to marvel in the outdoor paradise of Redding and Shasta Cascade.
Three days is ample time to experience eleven of the dozens of waterfalls close in proximity to Redding.
Visitors are taking advantage of the wettest winter in nearly a century as the California Department of Water Resources reported the northern Sierra Nevada had more than 89.7 inches of precipitation since October. It brings the waterfalls to life, offering breathtaking spring waterfalls after a statewide drought.
"The waterfalls are thriving this spring thanks to the historic rain and snow levels," said T.J. Holmes, the communications coordinator for the Redding Convention & Visitors Bureau. "A popular attraction is the 220-foot Whiskeytown Falls, one of eleven that are roaring right now and are easily accessible from Redding."
Each waterfall is less than a 90-minute drive from Redding, which is an outdoor oasis for all ages. The city is surrounded by mountains, offers more than 225 miles of trails to hike, bike or walk, along with national and state parks featuring the crisp Sacramento River running right through downtown.
