SEATTLE, June 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- WatchGuard® Technologies, a leader in advanced network security solutions, today announced its firewall product has achieved a "Recommended" rating from NSS Labs, the world's leading information security research and advisory company. In the 2017 Security Value Map™ (SVM) for Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) published today, the Firebox M4600 scored above average in both security effectiveness and total cost of ownership.
"NGFWs are placed at critical choke points in the network, and are being asked to do more than ever. Their stability, reliability, performance, flexibility, and total cost of ownership are all vital factors when making a buying decision," said Vikram Phatak, chief executive officer at NSS Labs. "The WatchGuard M4600 proved to be highly effective in each of those categories."
The NGFW Group Test integrates the Cyber Advanced Warning System (CAWS) for continuous testing with an exhaustive exploit library and hundreds of drive-by exploits being used in active campaigns by threat actors. This year, NSS expanded the testing of evasions, which are techniques that disguise and modify attacks at the point of delivery to avoid detection and blocking by security products.
"At WatchGuard, we pride ourselves on delivering enterprise-grade security that is widely deployable in terms of stability, manageability, reliability and affordability by small to midsize organizations and distributed enterprises," said Prakash Panjwani, CEO at WatchGuard Technologies. "NSS testing and Recommended status are clear evidence of those benefits to our customers."
All WatchGuard Firebox appliances in the UTM and Next Generation Firewall family run the same Fireware operating system and security services as the M4600, and thus benefit from the same efficacy, stability, performance and total cost of ownership. With modular port options for flexibility, and dual-redundant power supplies for highest performance and uptime, the Firebox M4600 is ideal for the central office of a distributed enterprise, or the datacenter of a midsize enterprise. The Firebox family of products is available through WatchGuard's global channel of resellers.
